T-Fal 1759 Ultraglide Diffusion Iron with 3-Way Auto Shut-Off Reviews
33 of 34 people found the following review helpful A good iron stuck with a poor design., September 22, 2005 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: T-Fal 1759 Ultraglide Diffusion Iron with 3-Way Auto Shut-Off (Kitchen) The cons: (or "It's an ergonomic disaster!")
1. Hold you hand like your holding an iron and are ironing clothes.
Your hand is very likely at an angle where your knuckles form a slight angle slanting down to the heel of your closed hand.
If you grip the handle on the T-Fal 1759 the way its designed, your hand will be slanting thumb-downward, either putting your wrist at a sharp, uncomfortable angle, or forcing you to point your elbow at the ceiling.
I ended up with my palm on spot where the cord enters the iron body, well back on the iron. This tended to make for uneven pressure on the ironing surface.
2. Reaching the steam, steam shooter, and mister controls required me to change my grip slightly - many times I brushed the temperature slider, changing the setting. It should be a rotary control.
3. The cord is made of some extremely flexible material, but it is very, very, soft - enough to seem tacky. It was always... Read more

I am a married male that does all of the ironing in my family. Yes, an ironing man. Why do you have such a shocked look on your face? It all started 22 years ago in the military... ...that's another story.I just purchased the T-Fal Ultraglide Diffussion Model 1759 Iron at Bed, Bath & Beyond. This iron has all the features that I was looking for. After owning a Rowenta Powerglide 2 for about 2 years it started leaking and spitting (I was extremely pleased with it while it lasted). The cord also wore out. So, I checked online reviews, compared prices and features and the T-Fal 1759 seemed the way to go. I also found a $5.00 store coupon so I only paid $34.99 for it. Quite a bargain.
Pros - I am pleased with the soleplate. It glides smoothly across the fabric. The iron is also easy to fill with its slide-out fill "drawer". It has plenty of steam holes. It has all of the... Read more
29 of 32 people found the following review helpful HOT Iron!, November 15, 2003 By "vathyal" (Rochester, MN United States) - See all my reviews This review is from: T-Fal 1759 Ultraglide Diffusion Iron with 3-Way Auto Shut-Off (Kitchen) This iron bears up to the T-Fal name. I've used this for a few months now and it works splendid! It's a great deal and well worth your money. There is no spillage like some of the Rowenta irons. The auto-off feature is very helpful and its long cord is a plus. Highly recommended!
