DX8906 Professional Iron Reviews
9 of 9 people found the following review helpful Professional? Not!, June 19, 2011 By This review is from: DX8906 Professional Iron When my 15 year old Rowenta iron bit the dust, I purchased this model from Target. It's one of the few models still made in Germany, so I figured the quality would be stellar. What a let down! I followed the directions to the nines but the iron leaked, spit water everywhere when the water level was down to 1/4, and kept shutting off, even when I simply put it down to move my shirt. I'm taking it back and asking for a refund. I've ordered an Oliso (?) from Amazon and hope it works better than the Rowenta. Last year I purchased a Panasonic iron, which I returned because it spit dirty water all over my clean clothes. It seems prices go up as quality goes down. Nuts!
6 of 6 people found the following review helpful Overpriced and poorly made, July 19, 2011 By Anjou Wu (Minneapolis, MN USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: DX8906 Professional Iron Rowenta really went astray with this iron, ostensibly their top consumer model. While its ironing capability is good, with consistent heat, the iron is poorly made and mine lasted a scant six months. The iron is an erratic steamer, leaving blotches of wetness on fabrics at all temperatures. Worse, this occurred even when the steam function was turned off. Finally, my iron failed to turn on consistently (a power cord problem?) and had to be duct-taped to stay on. I finally threw it away, and was glad to be rid of it. Do not buy this model.
5 of 5 people found the following review helpful Huge let down on this one, February 27, 2011 By Elin "Luvmy3" (MN) - See all my reviews This review is from: DX8906 Professional Iron I had high hopes and expectations for this iron. Considering it was $90- I was expecting the thing to practically iron clothes itself. It was awful. It leaked all over my clothes, the steam output was minimal and it did not make ironing easier at all. I promptly returned it and bought the T-Fal ultraglide iron with an easy cord feature and it is performing 10x better and only cost me $42.50 with sale/coupon. I have had 2 Rowenta irons now- the first one I had was better, but I ended up having to replace it because the steam feature wasn't working anymore. I am not a fan even though they are supposed to be great irons. Paying big $$ for an iron does not mean you always get the best.
