From the very first time I used it, water leaked from various parts leaving water spots all over my clothes. I haven't even bothered to try the "smart steam" - too much water leaks out for that to work effectively! I usually throw away my iron once it starts leaking, but this one is NEW. Since it was a gift from an out of town family member, I don't even have the receipt to return it! I am very disappointed, and won't be purchasing any other B&D iron anytime soon!

As hard as I scrubbed I couldn't remove the stain, which continued to accumulate dirt and when hot and moistened from steam, would deposit black stains on my light colored clothing. Replacing it today.
Gosh Darn Awful, April 26, 2011 This review is from: Black & Decker F976 Quickpress Iron with Smart Steam Technology and Stainless Steel Soleplate (Kitchen) I purchased this iron with a few things in mind; anti-drip and affordable but the iron completed only one of those. I iron quite often and I realize with this purchase, you surely get what you pay for. As soon as the iron turned on, it simply turned itself off, while I was gliding along the pants leg. I could understand if I let it rest to the side for five minutes, but to do so while ironing, huh?
The second straw arrived when water started leaking like a broken faucet but I thought this was anti-drip. I would then have to unplug the cord and back in once more to get it reheated.
The third and final straw, which I initially thought would never occur; the stainless steel surface is no longer something I desire for an iron because residue of sorts begins to collect and produces a "burned" stain on the surface. I tried removing with a wet cloth but it doesn't seem to work. Why can't this iron do anything right? I purchased from Macy's three months ago, so I hope to... Read more
